Coaching
Shaun Priestley is an Ilca specific coach having worked with sailors at junior, youth and senior level over the last 10 years.
Shaun has worked with sailors from a variety of nations including Bermuda, Great Britain, Serbia and Italy. Coaching sailors to top 3 positions at European and World championships and to World Sailing Youth Worlds gold have been the highlights of Shaun’s performance coaching career.
Other work has included coaching the Ilca 4 national and Ilca 6 youth squads, working for the UK laser class association as a Lead Coach, working for World Sailing on the Emerging Nations programme, working on the RYA Paralympic pathway and British Keelboat Academy.
The philosophy behind all of this work is that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed and that each individual may require a specific plan to help them unlock their potential.
Consultancy
Shaun cares deeply about the grassroots of the sport and has both qualifications and experience in sailing centre management, instructor programmes, coach/ trainer programmes and training scheme creation & development.
Shaun has worked closely with the RYA on the integration of Foiling into the RYA National Sailing Scheme, with the lead youth coaches at the Italian Federation on foil training and with the organisers of The Foiling Week. This work was to ensure foiling was and continues to made more accessible to the wider sailing community.
Previous roles have included being the Operations manager of the SailLaser centres on Lake Garda, the Development manager of the Andrew Simpson Foundation and a member of the RYA training team.
